She reads a book…she wanders around the apartment…she fidgets with the lace on her dress…she looks out the window, down the street, wondering where he is…time passes and she leaves a furious message on his voicemail… More time still and she falls asleep in a chair, still dressed for the date.
A breeze blows the draperies as the sun sets…a shadow crosses the paintings…crosses the late afternoon light illuminating her and she awakens to see…herself (As first seen in reflections within chandeliers, broken or distorted mirrors on walls, etc). A dream? Maybe….
Unafraid but unsure at first, hesitant, she stands and stares at herself…then, in closeup, we see her tilt her head with a slightly mischievous, sophisticated, sexy smile…her own private joke: Who needs a man to have fun?
The look will be similar in color and feel to the recent Gucci Flora ads or my friend Joe White’s Forever 21 spec commercial — except more classical — and shot as an interior, rather than exterior. To play up the timelessness of the theme, I see formalized, symmetry-rich shots and luxurious detailings.
